FAQ

Collector Information

  1. What is a doll repaint?

Doll repainting is a form of pop art in which all of the factory paint is removed from a doll, leaving the face as a "blank" canvas.  The doll is then carefully repainted in a much more realistic fashion than can be attained through factory paint.  These dolls can then be painted and sometimes even sculpted to resemble celebrities, characters, or heroes.  It is a unique and highly collectible form of art that is desired by collectors all over the world.

  2. Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, I do accept a limited amount of foreign orders.  Please contact me for details.

Commissions

  1. How much does it cost to Commission a Doll?

There is a wide price range, depending on the amount of artistic work required.  Generally, commissions start at $400 and up for a straight face repaint.  Cost is added for resculpting, costuming , wigs or reroots and/or hair styling.  Fully costumed doll repaints start at $500 and up.  Not all commissions are accepted.  Please contact the artist to discuss the project you have in mind.

  2. Do you require a Downpayment?

A 50% downpayment is required to start a commission.  Until the downpayment is received, other commissions may be taken creating a longer wait time.

  3. Is my downpayment refundable?

Because commissions are custom work, downpayments are non-refundable in the event of cancellation or non-payment within 30 days of completion.

  4. How long does it take to complete a commission?

Wait time varies by the scope of the project, but an accepted commission can usually be completed within two to three weeks.  A general time frame will be given at the time of scheduling.

  5. Will you do a commission of a doll I see on your site or one I have seen on eBay?

I create One of a Kind art dolls, so I will only do a doll once.  The only exceptions I might make is that I might create a celebrity as a different character, or create a doll using a different sculpt.  These are rare exceptions.  I have no interest in doing the same doll over and over.  I am not Mattel.  If you fall in love with a doll that you see on eBay you should try to win it at auction - please do not expect that you will be able to commission one later.  I seek to create One of a Kind dolls, in the interest of maximizing their value and collectibility, which I find is best for me as an artist and for you as a collector.
